Glow plug light came lit on dash and said "service engine immediately." Engine then lost power on interstate (dangerous). When re-cranked, engine was sluggish and would not accelerate above 40mph. VW service said it was due to a faulty fuel pump.

Driving on interstate at 70mph. Engine glowplug light and main failure light came on and engine quit. Dealer advised failure was due to high pressure fuel pump failure.

The high pressure fuel pump on my 2010 VW tdi failed on the highway causing a sudden loss of power. The vehicles was towed to the dealership where they confirmed that the injector pump was the problem.
