faulty throwout bearing with excessive play in flywheel
I bought this car, 3VWHJ7AJ3AM026023, from st james volkswagen, then within one day, all the engine coolant leaked all over my driveway, misfired in 1 cylinder, traction control and ABS disabled themselves, and the transmission would 'hoot' like an owl every time I would shift into first gear, second gear, and reverse. they never fixed the 'hoot'. I had it brought in and they dropped the tran and changed some components ON SPEC without fixing any problem. there's much more to the story but I feel I need to put in this complaint because I owned the car for a day, then had it in their shop forever, I was told that 'this isn't walmart' when I asked to take the car back. and now, that they bought the car back from me for much less than I paid(only put on 400 kilometers and it cost me 8000 dollars) they are selling it again for 2000 more than they paid me after being told the car may be destroyed since it was faulty. there was a total of 8 things that went wrong as well as being told information by the sales reps, brian and robert, that was incorrect. I hope that the next person who tests this car will do a search for the vin, 3VWHJ7AJ3AM026023 and find this post but when does the buyer at a dealership ever get the last word.... hopefully a VIN search will pull up this complaint. the car is not worth the trouble even at 16,500$ Don't buy from these crooks!!

I bought the car from a dealer. I knew the owner he was a 87 year old German guy. The car was not beat on. I was driving down the road stopped at a light and I started to go. I noticed a car was running a red light so I got into it in first gear and I hear SLAM SLAM SLAM SLAM SLAM. Very rapid and quick slams. It sounded like the CV was skipping against the transmission gears. Then after that worried me it happened again and this time it was catastrophic failure, it blew up the tranny and clutch assembly. This was 3 days after I bought the car. It still happens and can't figure it out.
