Hose came loose on the sunroof end and made a leak by the passenger footwell. Reattached it and the leak stopped. Two weeks later I’m about to go for a drive, and notice a sloshing noise as I get in. There is a 2 inch deep puddle in the rear passenger side footwell and fungus growing. It seems when I reattached the hose the first time, I must’ve put too much tension on it and caused the bottom end of it (in the engine bay, near the hvac intake under the windshield wipers) to come loose, creating an even bigger leak as all of it now emptied into the interior.
The fix was to feed the hose back into the proper hole with a wire and put an o-ring around it to keep it in place better, then use a hose clamp on the end by the sunroof. The hose appears to have been made slightly too small from the factory (or it may have shrank slightly over time) causing this issue to begin with.
Had to shop vac out the water, rent a rug doctor to clean the carpet, hit it with a hairdryer, and then fill the footwells with rice to absorb moisture. Mold and fungus thankfully haven’t come back, but I still keep a mesh bag of rice under the seat as a desiccant just to be safe.
