The key was stuck in the ignition switch and cannot be pulled out. It will take many times to turn the key back and turn off the engine. The dealer said there is problem in the steering wheel lock column. It will take $170 CAD to replace the part and $217.5 CAD for the labor fee. Are they crazy?! There is problem in the design of ignition switch!

Over the last 3-5 months my ignition had been sticking, and it was sometimes difficult to turn the vehicle off. About a month ago, I could not move the key at all, no amount of force would let me turn the vehicle off. It ran for about 2 hours and finally a friend who has automobile tools was able to put a very thin set of pliers on the key and turn the vehicle off. I thought that was the end of it, since the sticking seemed to have also been alleviated, however that same bizarre problem just happened again last night! Very annoying and dangerous. I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem and what the solution is?
