My jetta has black leatherette seats (vinyl) which are very hot and sticky to sit on. I purchased seat covers, made for a car with side airbags. But the seat cover makes the airbag sensor think there is a child or carseat on the seat and turns off the airbag. I removed the cover and tried just a towel, same thing. I contacted my dealer only to find they say VW prohibits anything on there seats. How can this be? I need to be able to protect my seats at times and also for the comfort from the heat. Is this even legal they can turn off a safety feature because someone wants to sit on a towel.
