So this past summer, driving on a hot humid day, I was on a long drive. After about an hour, I suddenly felt humid air come in and noticed the temperature getting warmer. Then the flow of air was reduced like there was a blockage. I'm thinking low refrigerant and the thing is icing up. Well this happened a few more times so I took the car to the dealer.

They evacuated the a/c system and checked for leaks. They stated that I was a little low on refrigerant but didn't find any leaks. They recharged, told me if it happens again to bring it in. Two days later I take a 300 mile trip. A/C seems to work. After 4 days I drive back and sure enough after about 1.5 hours I notice warmer air again. It's 95 outside and 70+ dew point. Warmer and warmer air. Kids complaining in the back seat. After driving for a while longer we stopped to eat. I opened the hood and ALL the metal A/C lines were covered in ICE at least 1/8 inch thick. Even the fitting on the firewall. After letting car sit for 1/2 hour, I came outside and saw all ice gone and no moisture. The ice cold lines were now too hot to touch.

Took it back to dealer. They tested and could not find anything. They stated, to only use the recirculate button for 10 or 15 minutes until the car is cool, then turn off recirc. Yesterday, I did not use the recirc button but after about 45 minutes of driving with my AC on (90 degrees and near 70 dew point) I noticed the air coming out warmer again.

I have a black interior and this is not how to win over customers or stay with VW vehicles.....
