I've had my 2015 Volkswagen GLI since 04/09/2015 and I have loved the car... Until today! I bought this car, being that I had a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SEL and wanted something a little more aggressive, sporty. Thus I got the GLI. I was driving to San Diego and all of the sudden the car started stalling, then just shut off. Mind you, we were on a two lane express lane and was VERY VERY scary and felt unsafe. Why would it stop, mid trip?!!! I have kept up with ALL my maintenance on this vehicle and I take very good care of my car. I am terrified to drive it again because of this situation. We were all very upset and felt endangered in the car when this happened. I drive my loved ones around in my car a lot, now I am deathly afraid to have them in the car again and have this happen. This could of caused a very serious accident. I do not feel safe, I am worried this could happen again and do not feel like commuting to work in this car thinking "am I going to make it there safely?" I do not know what to do at this point. I pay a lot of money for this car and feel that my life is in danger now. What once felt like a safe, reliable car feels like a death trap waiting to happen. What should I do?! I wish there was a way for me to go to VW and express my concerns and take the car back. I can not and will not place myself or my loved ones in this situation!

I bought my 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. Bought on 8/27/2015, My daughter is driving the car in California. Yesterday (3/25/2016) when she exited from highway, the car limped and stalled locking the steering system.. VERY SCARY situation.
She called road side emergency and it was towed to Sunnyvale volkswagen. They said it needs the calibration and reset something. She got the car back. They charged $155 for that. Where is the VW warranty for this malfunction? That itself is rediculous.
When I read the blog on 2015 problems, I am very concerned with the safety and likely it may happen. I don't believe a resetting would solve this. I am concerned on the safety. Please help me here.
I have sent an e-mail to VW for expert opinion. If this happens again, I may be able to return this under Minnesota lemon law because it states that if the steering wheel lock up is not repaired, it can be returned.
I trusted VW. Waiting to see what happens here

So...my 1 week old BRAND NEW 2015 Jetta seemed to be functioning perfectly until it just didn't. The first time it stalled while driving, it happened when I was pulling out of my drive way. My car was stalled in the middle of the road (taking up the full road) and wouldn't re-start. After some time (1/2 hr) it restarted only to fail again and stall while I was trying to pull it back into the driveway. And I mean stall, no revving, nothing. The car was completely dead.
After looking at it for a full day, the dealership couldn't find anything wrong with it. They sent me on my way stating that it was probably just a glitch. I was very nervous but I stupidly believed them not wanting to think that my brand new vehicle was a dud. I did tell the service people that I was going on a road trip and they assured me that it was safe.
Of course it stalled again, while driving and without any warning. Ater a run-in with a rude roadside person, it was brought to the dealership.
The dealership worked on it for the week and advised that it was a problem with a central fuse which was not properly installed. All better.
But is isn't all better, is it? Brand new car. My family members who is a mechanic said that it could not be as simple as this.
Volkswagen customer care definitely didn't care. They were short with me and rude and stated that they would not "buy back a used vehicle". "End of story" they said when I pressed on reminding them that it wasn't used a week ago.
They are insisting that I take the car back with no guarantees that this is the only problem or that it is solved.
I AM SO UPSET. I have a six year old son. I do not feel comfortable having him in the back seat of a car that could stop at anytime without any notice. I'm not sure what to do.

I had bought a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta about 6 months ago i waiting and waiting to finally be able to afford and nice German car. And have been in the shop 9 times already. I drive all freeway and I bought the car with 6 miles on it new. I have about 22,000 on it now. A lot of miles in 6 months right? Well that's the reason I spent $28,000 on this car. I wanted a reliable car. And my family is from Germany so I thought a Volkswagen.....
..... SADLY I was wrong. This is the worst car I have ever owned in my life. I have had nothing but problems. From engine problems to transmission and even my push to start... I have had the car shut off on me. When it sh*ts in idle it sounds like crap and you can feel knocking. I change the oil every 5000 miles on the dots the car is in perfect shape (the body) and i baby the crap out of it.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY A VOLKSWAGEN!

I bought my car in July 2015, new, from Larry Roesch Dealer in Chicago, after waiting eight hours in the waiting room for them to "clean my car in the back shop"- while several other customers came and went with their new cars. After only a few thousand miles on my car, it needed to have a quart and half of oil added to it and the oil light came on. I took it into the dealer and they said it was "normal".
After I called the manufacturer to request a letter stating my car was clear and did not have any recall issues, I was told the letter could not be issued because there was, indeed, a recall issue which had to do with the camshaft. I was told this issue did not have a fix for it and would not have one until March 2016. I requested a letter stating it would be safe to drive the car with my children and family, but VW said they were not able to give such a letter stating that the model of the car was "safe to drive". I told them I was not comfortable driving a car that could potentially shut off while driving on the highway and causing injury or death to my family-- at that point, VW agreed to tow my car and to replace the camshaft (even though I was initially told by VW that the camshaft replacement would cause the very same issue). This was one week ago, at which time, I had to rent a car for seven days to wait for my VW.
I received the VW Jetta SE 1.8T back from Pugi Dealers last Thursday and was told there should not be any other problems. Today, I drove half mile from my home to the laundry and when I returned to my car, the car would not start, the light indicator for "steering malfunction and engine issues" came on. I called VW and they have towed the car to Pugi Dealership, yet again, and I do not have a car - once again- to take my children to school and work, etc. There is a very obvious and serious issue with my car. It is not something to play with people's lives over, since VW told me it cannot be fixed and could potentially cause a crash. The best business practice for VW would be for you to allow me to return this car, which has severe malfunctions, making it unsafe for me to drive with my children.
I am a VW owner for the last 20 years (I only bought VW Jettas) and I never had an issue like this with one of your cars. I am prepared to make this a media issue and to take it to the local and national media, Social Media, complaints with NHTSA, and other venues of complaints if you do not take this seriously and refund my money for this car. It is unsafe, it is malfunctioning on a daily basis, and it is unacceptable consumer goods and very poor business practice.

The motor surged at a stop light, and motor raced when my wife step on the gas at the stop light to leave. Motor roared, she turned into a parking and shut of the motor for a few minutes and then restarted the car. The car acted normal. Then she drove home, she is afraid to drive it now. This happened on Labor Day. There is no dealerships open to take it to. She is now afraid to drive car!

I work for a dealership in Virginia beach and I leased a 2015 Jetta SE 1.8l Turbo. I had a 2014 same trim and model and both cars turn off while driving and won't restart. You have to let sit for a few minutes and then the car restarts. My 2014 Jetta was a buy back after getting an attorney for lemon law suit.
My 2015 is now starting to have the same issues along with didn't get correct gas mileage and the steering wheel is never straight. VW says its defects in the 2015 model year and are not fixable. They can't ever find the reason why my car turns off but they are always replacing parts. When my car turns off nothing works not even the SOS roadside button. I drive mainly highway and so when your doing 80mph and your car turns off and you can turn the wheel. This car isn't safe.
VW has known about the issue but has not recalled anything or told any customers about the issue. When the car shuts off the wheel locks and you lose all power to the car so it makes it extremely difficult to safely get to the side. And of course VW won't try anything and they just say they will look at it but never a solution.

I LEASED A 2015 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA WITH 19 MILES ON SUNDAY JAN 4, 2015. AFTER 4 HOURS AT THE DEALERSHIP I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GO HOME AT 5 PM. I DROVE THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES HOME.
I LEFT ON JAN 5, 2015 FOR WORK WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY, THE EPC AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. I THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOPING THAT I COULD AT LEAST GET THE CAR BACK TO MY RESIDENCE. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AT THE SPEED OF 7 MILES AN HOUR. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOOK MY NUMBER AND SAID THEY WOULD CALL BACK AFTER THEY CHECKED CARS IN.
I THEN CALL THE SALESMAN THAT SOLD ME THE CAR AND HE WAS EXTREMELY RUSHED, SAID HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO WORK AND NOT TO WORRY HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. THE SALESMAN CALLS ME BACK ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER AND PROCEEDS TO YELL AT ME SAYING I NEED TO CALL THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PHONE NUMBER IN THE PAMPHLET THAT WAS INCLUDED WITH THE VEHICLE MANUEL BOOK. I CALLED THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, THEY COULD NOT FIND ME IN THEIR SYSTEM. OF COURSE I KNEW THAT BECAUSE I HAD JUST LEASED THE CAR ON A SUNDAY AT 5PM, THEIR ETA WAS 10:35AM. 3 HOURS LATER. I WAS NOT MAKING IT TO WORK TODAY.
I SPOKE TO THE SALESMAN AGAIN AND MADE IT CLEAR THAT I WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT LOSING A DAY OF WORK AND DID NOT WANT THE VEHICLE. I WANTED THE CONTRACT TO BE VOIDED BECAUSE I DID NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE.
FINALLY THE TOW COMPANY ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE, THE DRIVER SAID "NOT ANOTHER ONE THIS IS THE 5TH CAR I HAVE TOWED, DID YOUR EPC AND AN ENGINE LIGHT COME ON"? I SAID YES, HOW DID YOU KNOW? HE SAID THAT EVERY VOLKSWAGEN HE HAS PICKED UP RECENTLY, 2014 AND 2015, ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. ONCE THE CAR WAS ON THE TRANSPORT TRUCK I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP I ONCE AGAIN EXPRESSED MY UNHAPPINESS WITH THIS CAR ASKING THEM TO VOID THE CONTRACT. I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 14 HOURS, DROVE IT A TOTAL OF 30MINS WHICH INCLUDED THE TEST DRIVE AND NOW THE CAR IS BROKE. LONG STORY SHORT THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO BE GENTLEMEN AND VOID THE CONTRACT, ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS GIVE ME A LOANER. "WHY, SO I COULD BREAK DOWN ON MY WAY TO WORK TOMORROW" WAS MY RESPONSE. I REPEATED MY UNHAPPINESS WITH THE VEHICLE THEY SOLD ME AND ESPECIALLY TO THE GENERAL MANAGER WHO PLAYED TOUGH GUY AND SPOKE TO ME LIKE I WAS A STUPID WOMEN WHO WAS GOING TO LISTEN TO HIM.
I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP FRUSTRATED AND FEELING LIKE I WAS LIED TO SO THEY COULD SELL ONE MORE FAULTY VEHICLE. I WENT HOME AND BEGAN TO DO RESEARCH FINDING OUT THAT THERE ARE STILL OUTSTANDING RECALLS ON THIS CAR AND THAT, BY LAW IN CALIFORNIA, CAR DEALERSHIPS DO NOT HAVE TO DISCLOSE THIS TO BUYERS. WOW. SO BY LAW THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG BECAUSE THE LAW ALLOWS THEM TO BE DECEITFUL. I RECEIVED A CALL NUMEROUS HOURS LATER INFORMING ME OF THE PROBLEM "FAULT IN THE GAS PEDAL THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE WIRING IN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE GAS PEDAL HOUSING." ONCE AGAIN I STATED I DID NOT WANT THE CAR, THAT I DID NOT FEEL SAFE, STILL ON DEAF EARS, THEY WERE NOT GOING TO HELP ME.
THE SERVICE MANAGER EVENTUALLY GAVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER TO VOLKSWAGEN COMPLAINTS AND I FILED A COMPLAINT ASKING THEM TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT IT AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THEIR VEHICLE. STILL NO HELP AT ALL. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL ON JAN 8TH AT 5:16PM SAYING MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN FIXED AND READY TO BE PICKED UP. ANY HELP IN RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THESE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR VOLKSWAGEN WERE RAISED BY WOLVES.

The car was running rough, lousy acceleration, and almost stalling at an idle. the car stalled several times for no apparent reason and the last incident had the car stalling in the middle of an intersection. the car would not start again and had to be towed to the dealership. the dealership service department seemed to have no idea as to why the car was stalling. the dealership service department looked at the car several times and said that there were no codes identifying the cause of stalling. The last time it stalled there was apparently a code that showed up showing that there might be a camshaft problem, but they weren't sure. A corporate engineer advised that a worn camshaft could be a very likely cause. It's totally frustrating because the car is obviously dangerous to drive with it stalling at any time, and also frustrating because the dealership techs didn't seem to have a clue as to what might be causing the problem, and they are the supposed experts on these cars. Then I read about all of these incidents of VW's stalling and the correlation to a camshaft issue. Seems to me that the dealership was just trying to avoid an under warranty repair.
