The contact owns a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled down to the floorboard; however, the vehicle responded as needed. The traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Mavis Tire and Brakes, where it was determined that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced due to brake fluid leaking. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20E064000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). Additionally, the mechanic flushed the brake fluid and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the independent mechanic. The contact contacted the part manufacturer, Tenneco Automotive, and left a voicemail. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
