The hill start assist is dangerous. Unlike most hill start assists, the one in this car doesn-??t let go when you release the clutch, it waits about 2-3 seconds every time. I-??ve had several incidents with this but just recently I was starting on a not very steep hill and forgot about the fact I have to compensate for this system, and tried to start normally and stalled. Thankfully the person behind me was my friend and was paying attention, but people don-??t usually expect a car to sit there not moving once the brake lights go off, and then shudder to a stop because it has just stalled, and is possible for rear end collisions, as well as other more dangerous ones to happen depending on the situation. The system is working as designed; I-??ve heard many complaints from other people that theirs does the same thing. It is dangerous as it doesn-??t let you move for 2-3 seconds even if you really need to in an emergency situation.

I purchased the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta in December of 2018. The vehicle currently has roughly 50K miles. When the incident occurred it had 38K miles when I first noticed a weird smell coming from my air vents. I was currently driving on the highway when I noticed that smell, pulled over and opened the hood too the vehicle and noticed that the battery had exploded!! I right away contacted Volkswagen customer care and notified them of the incident that had just occurred to me. They mentioned I had bumper too bumper warranty, so I took in the car too the dealership and had to pay out of pocket because they mentioned that the battery was no longer covered. The new battery that was replaced isn't the original one that came with the car when purchased. I also mentioned too the service tech that air bag, ABS, brake booster, cpu appeared on my speedometer. The dealership had the vehicle for about 2weeks and also noticed that the acid from the battery had melted down the wiring harness, ac lines, and suspension components. I'm currently still dealing with customer car because nothing was done from their end, everyday the car has a new issue, I call and all they say is too take it back and they'll take a look at it. I purchased this new vehicle so I wouldn't be dealing with any of these problems but it turned out to be worst!! I no longer want too deal with the dealership because I get nothing out of it, I would appreciate it if anything of this could help me out in any way possible!

What I'm most concerned about is I'm unable to open my doors from the inside sometimes, it doesn't happen often but when it does it's frustrating and unsettling. If I position my air vent towards the door latch and blast my air conditioning it will open after a few minutes. My local dealer has tried to repair this problem but has been unsuccessful, as of 42 days ago, I have tried to get an appointment with a loaner at multiple dealers and have also been unsuccessful. Aside from this issue, my car has also had problems with it's windshield wipers going off by themselves and with the windows seemingly getting stuck on something going up or down and will either not close or open during worse episodes.

Loud grinding noises from the torque converter and a loss of power when accelerating from a stop to 35 mph. At higher than 50 mph I can feel something rattling/vibrating in the pedal and steering wheel. Took it to the dealer twice and they won't even pop the hood before telling me it's normal. Also it will not stay in eco mode. I believe an electrical issue causes it to switch out of eco mode but the button still says it's in eco mode. The display however says it's in drive mode.

The vehicle is a 6-speed manual transmission. The vehicle will stall out when coming to a stop. Not user error, since the stalling happens when the car is in neutral - coasting to a stop. Stall out is very soft - akin to just shutting off the engine. This happens nearly every stop after running the car for about 15 minutes. This phenomenon is repeatable and extremely unsafe.

My car shuts itself off randomly. At stop lights, sitting in the driveway, in the car pick up line at school etc. I asked the dealer to look into this. At times it will tell me the car has to shut off to keep the battery from any damage. The dealer claims it's normal but there are a lot of people online complaining about this. I don't think it's normal.

I have the 2019 Jetta sel premium that includes the beats audio system upgrade. The speakers rattle and sound blown starting at just below 50% volume. I am at the dealer and they are inspecting the issue. There are many complaints of this on public forums. It seems as if the stereo head unit is too powerful for the speakers or is improperly allocating power to the speakers instead of the subwoofer. It is definitely not right whatever the issue is. This occurs on fm radio, satellite radio or iphone apple music via carplay.

Vehicle proximity sensors began to flash, despite being the only car in a freeway entry lane. There were no cars in front of me, or in back of me, but my vehicle's sensors began to flash and the car began to break as if preparing for a collision. Car never stopped completely, since my foot was on the gas. Sensors continued to flash on dashboard for a minute. I'm not sure of what causes this, perhaps the equipped vehicle software isn't clear of bugs, or sensors could have been manipulated via bluetooth connection.

When grabbing things from inside the vehicle through an open window, pushing your body against the door with keys in a pocket may cost the vehicle to think that you are pushing on the door lock button and hence closing the windows when you are retrieving things inside and the windows take too long of a time to sense that something is blocking the windows and hurt whoever is retrieving items.

Ive had the car about two or three weeks. The key struggles to turn when in the ignition, even when I have my foot on the brake. Sometimes it turns on just fine and sometimes the key absolutely refuses to turn when in the ignition switch. Its as if im putting the wrong key in there but I only have one VW so this is for sure the right key. The car squeaks extremely loud. Its a really loud screeching sound and it only happens when I reverse. Both things only happen every one out of 10 times or so.

The problem is with my 2019 manual transmission gli. Even when the clutch is engaged, (foot on the clutch) and the car is coming to a halt, the car stops/stalls. This issue occurs randomly, but once it starts, it keeps happening, until randomly the issue stops showing up. Because of the apparent randomness of when the issue shows up, I have not been able to convince the service folks.

While I have been driving in heavy traffic at or about 20 mph, my park brake comes on and my VW comes to a dead stop and almost always get into an accident. Cars behind me get mad and start honking. It's happen to 3 times now and once to the mechanic that stated it could be catastrophic. I am a professional truck driver of 40 years and can handle the unexpected for the most part but my wife whom commutes 60 miles daily on a crazy freeway to work has been for fortunate that it's not happen to her yet. I finally couldn't keep it to myself anymore and after telling her my experiences, she refused to drive the car anymore till took care of the problem. I brought the car brand with only 10 miles on it (2019vw) with a rebuilt title with no mfg warr. But I purchased after market warranty 7yr. 100,000 for $4,000.)...I contacted the car dealer and my warranty and both said I bought car as is and basically show concern that we could get our self's killed or others. The car has been at the VW car dealer for almost 2 months now and I've had to rent a car for my wife this whole time. VW calls me every 2 week and tell me 2 more weeks on the part (electrical module in gear shifter). I am facing a several dollar bill at shop and a couple thousand dollars with car rental. That keeps charging my credit card. I am paying for a brand new dead VW. And very very did appointed in the whole system!.

The infotainment system displays a message saying 'operating outside of normal operating temperature' when the heater is running, and shuts off disabling any functionality. Including back up camera, which has personally caused me to back into a pole as I was mid reversal when it shut off. It happens when moving or stationary. Have been unable to capture images, however it has happened multiple times. Have been to the dealer and they are unable to find the issue.

I just purchased a 2019 Jetta R line and since day one I have a grinding noise coming from the transfer case or the transmission. It's always there at around 50km/per hour for about 2 sec. Like many others said it doesn't feel right for me. I hope VW will take action and do something about it. On top of that I lost all my radio presets and the screen has started to freeze. I also notice a knocking sound in the rear suspension over normal bumps.

The car shut off, I lost control of the power steering and the breaks failed to stop after the computer shut the car off. Now they calm the shifter is defective and needs replaced after there computer diagnostic codes failed to detect the problem the first 2 times and a test drive would have told them their was a problem but they refused to do a test drive and relied and faulty computer input. This serious malfunction could have resulted in my injury or death or injury and death to another party. The defective shifter has caused injury to my right knee and tendons. I was in park, a person entered the car. I put the car in reverse and the car shut off rolled down the hill until it stopped by rolling in reverse up a hill behind me. The person refused to be in my car as the danger was obvious to her. The only reason the car stopped was because of the hill. I lost control of the brakes and power steering as the car was shut off. Any child or elderly person behind me would have suffer serious injury. The dealership I purchased the car from is refusing to write any of this information down.
