It all started with excessive noise from the front left of the car, especially at highway speeds. When revised by a mechanic, it was: "replace it or lose the wheel while driving" type of scenario. So, it was replaced.

The right-front wheel hub assembly was replaced (same symptoms and fix) about a year earlier. assembly
