This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Volkswagen dealer.
When opening or closing the Panoramic roof there was a very loud squawking noise. I was told this is normal and the track rails need to be lubed at least twice a year. Dealer cleaned and lubed tracks and noise was gone. I think that in less than 4000 miles, having the car for 7 months mostly during the winter months and the car being kept in a garage this noise should not have happened and the dealer's explanation unacceptable, we shall see what happens.

Was told this time, three months and 1500 miles after first repair, that the tracks had been over lubed. They cleaned and lubed the tracks again as I waited and watched and after lubing the rear guides was able to silence the noise. This time I was told the tracks need to be lubed 2-4 times a year instead of twice and that there was no warranty for noise issues. To me this is ridiculous as the car is kept in the garage and the roof is seldom moved from its open position. If the noise returns in as short a period of time again I am thinking of opening and closing the roof until it fails so it will need to be repaired under warranty.
