Took 4 visits and $3800 to fix the problem. this included replacing thermostat, fixing catalytic converter (second time in 6 months), new 'combi' - no idea what this is, replacing all of the coolant pipes. What really p***s me off is that the problem started over a year ago when I saw fluid on my driveway. However I was of course just imagining it according to the service people. This problem included a persistent 'check engine warning' that was mysteriously fine every time I picked it up from the dealer; they obviously didn't have a clue! It was explained to me that it is hard to diagnose problem and they said the engine is one big computer, I disagreed and said it was one big ATM that only takes deposits!

The car was purchased Oct 17 2009, we saw green coolant and wanted to make sure we had correct coolant, only the manufacturers coolant so took to Snelleville Volkswagen dealership for a flush, on October 19, 2009. At that time we took in for service we had no leaks, and everything working, and dealership reported no problems. After service same day emission workshop light comes on as I am driving home, and I take back, they said tighten the gas cap and check gas, but would not be a problem as long as light not blinking. Recommend I drive for a while and see if it would go out. Did not go out, later the heat would not work so looked to check coolant and level was below normal so took back to the dealership to see why. They now tell me I have a coolant leak and the heater coil is not working. Also they say green in the coolant they were suppose to flush and refill I paid for, but accused me of putting green coolant in after there admitted drain and refill, not flush, which they tryed to say was the same thing. There Cost to fix Leak-$238.00, and heater $1375.00. There repair estimate not supported by any diagnostic codes.After a heated argument with the senior adviser at the customer service desk who was not even handling my service, but jumped in to accuse me of putting green in the coolant after my customer service agent told green was in coolant and trying to explain that a flush was just a draining of coolant and refill.

So, I told the car to a diagnostic auto shop, and had the agent call Volkswagen for the meaning of the codes generated, which they refused to give. They no such codes exist.

The diagnostic center codes staed 3 problems related and caused by Air flow intake value leak A rubber hose! Part Cost- $20.00. That was causing the coolant problem, emission shop sensor, engine light, and heating problem.
