This is a common problem with these 4cl turbo Passats. It is very expensive but don't let just ANYONE tell you that they know how to fix it. Take it to a specialist that knows VWs. I learned that the hard way and had to have it done AGAIN by a performance shop when the 2nd turbo when out the next day after a mechanic working out of his house "fixed" it for me.
