Passat Wagon V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

The second VW I have had that had worn out or broken motor mounts. The first car was a VW Cabriolet. It was under 50,00 miles when the mechanic informed me there was a problem. VW never fixed even though car was under warranty. They were a total pain in the a**. Finally had to fix at own expense. I figured this was an isolated case & never gave it too much . Then after having several other cars, I bought a 2003 Passat wagon. Starting having problems with the car lurching or jerking when pulling off from a stop, Mechanic informed me of the problem with the motor mounts. In retrospect...it must be a common issue with VWs ;(

Passat GLX 2.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,000 miles

This car has been nothing but constant problems.. I took car to a local foreign car clinic to get a cheaper price on repairs instead of expensive volkswagen, completely unaware of the motor mounts being shot. After speaking with the owner of the shop, he said he could replace the 4 motor mounts on the car for about $870.. this is unbelievable!! I have been so careful with this car, never any hard accelerations or anything. This is not even a daily driver.. hard to believe! Engine is going crazy when you change the gears from park, reverse, neutral, drive, etc.. Shop says I better get mounts replaced ASAP before engine completely comes out from under the hood. ugh..
