Have had problem with oil getting into the radiator. Engine coils, and in Nov 20 paid 650+ to fix items related to the Engine/Oil Light coming on. Now not even 2 months later the light is on again and we have to take the car to the dealer once again. We hope that there is no cost. It is ridiculous we have to ask for reimbursement. It should be covered under the extended warranty. Consumers should not be expected to pay for repairs for a known automaker defect.

Oil light came on, pulled over and turned off engine. turned engine back on, no oil light. drove it a little more and it came back on. then gave a little gas to engine to see if everything was ok, maybe hear any noises. oil light still on. checked oil level and was ok but added extra quart just in case. drove a little more and noticed engine knocking and loss of power. drove the car for about 5 miles and sat in the driveway. later on, flushed out engine oil after reading thousands of complaints online about oil pump and oil sludge problem. new oil filter installed, fram, which supposedly ruined the car from which dummies at VW said, put in 5W-40 synthetic oil and some oil detergent. started car and let run for about 10 minutes, little less knocking but still a problem. towed the car to nearest VW dealership and now it needs a new crankshaft because the crankshaft bearing burned out and left a big gouge on the crankshaft bearing race. need a new engine at only 55K miles and def. pissed off. now car at 55K should have this problem. going to have a local VW parts specialist replace engine instead of VW dealership, probably going to cost about 6000 for new engine. not even sure if new engine will last much longer because it is still an ongoing problem really gets me going. so i say PLEASE VW, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN MISTAKE, NOT THE CONSUMER very bad practice in service. never going to own a VW AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Volkswagen is not telling you the real problem it is not sludge that they are saying and making;ng you come up with all of your oil changes,oil has nothing to do with the problem there very hard pieces of some material breaking loose and clogging up the screen the mechanic in sandy or. never ever saw anything like it. it had to be scraped off with great difficulty. vw will fix it but not under the recall unless you just happen to have alllll of your receipts from oil changes, this is how they are skirting the real problem. good luck i am going to have the mechanic in sandy,or drop the pan clean it and scrape off the substance that is chipping off and give it a go. too bad the national hwy safety doesn't look into these things and stop taking the word of the mfg.
