I had a minor run in with another vehicle....got my car fixed (body work only) .....about 2 months later the light on my dash goes on indicating "faulty airbag".....took my car in the VW dealership Service department....(where I purchased the car)....I explained the situation and mentioned that I had also just received a letter from VW notifying me of the airbag recall....they said that this light being on and the recall situation are unrelated...They quoted me approximately $530 to repair it. I chose not to have it repaired for several reasons, primarily because I believe that THIS IS related to the recall.

Now I am driving an unsafe car and believe that VW needs to address this. I hope that neither I nor any of my passengers are hurt or killed because VW won't stand behind their "German engineering".........it is my understanding the the part needed to repair this is about $120.00....so why the high quote? I understand that they are in business to make a profit....however, when you cross over to greed at the expense of human safety you have crossed the line.

We got a new Passat 2.0 that we plan to use for a very long time. Because of that we were not driving it often. We've always had issues with it. First the brake, next the airbag and it always cost thousands to fix it.

Just around 60k miles of using the car, the air bag light kept coming on. We took it to the dealership where we bought it and they advised us to replace the airbag and the brake which will cost about $2,000. This was just like a year after replacing the brakes with the same dealer.

We got a second opinion at a different workshop and they checked and somehow got the light to turn off. Together with some issues they identified, this cost us about $800.00 around September/October 2014. Just about 30 days of fixing this issue, the light came on again and when we took it back, they claim we needed to replace the airbag which will cost us about $2,000 (just what we got the first time at the dealership but now we are $800.00 out of pocket)

What was the guarantee that there will not be issues after fixing this? We just traded the car for about $5k (as a down payment) for a brand new toyota. Mind you, we own a Toyota for about 8 years and definitely no issues. We should have stuck to Toyotas.

I'm just frustrated i'm now stuck with another 5 year un-budgeted expense for car payment.

I hope the person who buys what I returned does not face the same issues and cost.

Passat 2.0t

As I am driving down the road one day, the airbag light just decides to come on. Well I never hit anything, I was not in an accident, I don't think that anyone hit me.... Why is this happening? Oh yeah, this car is a TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP!!! This is just my latest problem. The mechanic told me that from what they can figure out, it is the sensor that is in the passenger seat. So, of course, he cannot fix it and I will have to take it to the dealership. Then I call the dealership and they tell me that they don't have a VW mechanic that works the weekends, only weekdays, and only until 5:30..... Seriously??
