The contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen Passat. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle lost power, but was able to restart after approximately twenty minutes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump malfunctioned. The dealer informed the contact of NHTSA campaign number: 17V509000 (fuel system, gasoline) and advised her to call the dealer. The contact called chapman Volkswagen of northeast philadelphia at 866-577-2408 (located at 9371 roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, pa 19114) where a recall repair appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
