Passat 2.0t

  • Automatic transmission

My 2010 VW Passat with the 2.0T TSI engine just ate itself. VW (Stands for VERY WORST) uses plastic parts as much as they can. In this case, the Crankcase Pressure Control Valve (PCV) which is plastic, failed. When it did this, pressure built up in the engine and blew out practically every seal in my engine. As a note, less than a week prior to this failure I had the 120,000 maintenance performed and my mechanic specifically checked the PCV valve and saw it was working. Basically, I am looking at about a $3000 repair bill if I want it fixed. Due to repetitive failures I have documented on other complaints and because of the value of the car, it will not get repaired. Even my mechanic, who I have kept in business with this car, has recommended I just get rid of it. He suggested trading it in, but when I pointed out that paying $3000 to get a car which would only give me $4000 on a trade plus I get a car payment is lunacy. He agreed. I have contacted VW customer care, but that was just today and I have not heard anything from them. I will update this complaint with their response, if any. If I don't hear anything in the next week, I will let everyone know that as well. This car was not bought from a VW dealer, but has had all scheduled maintenance kept up through the previous owner and myself. Let me say that I will NEVER buy another VW. Their product is grossly underengineered, it is costly to operate and repair, it breaks down frequently, and VW has a pocket full of excuses why it isn't their problem, if they respond at all. I would rather buy a Chevy (and I consider them bad) than a VW.
