Passat 2.0L - Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 105,633 miles

Extremely disappointed!! Even the VW dealership stated that with such low mileage, the rear seal should not have failed.

In doing research, found out that there is an engineering flaw with the rear seal - and was recommended by another European Auto repair shop to install an upgraded version of the rear seal and the Crankcase Vent Valve that regulates internal pressure, which often is the cause for the rear seal failure, due to the extra high pressure.

VW Service would not acknowledge this... for OBVIOUS reasons.

My advice - AVOID the older models of VW Passat - though I have no experience with the newer (2015+) models.

I am now looking around to see if I can get a better price to repair this problem. I just finished having a safety check completed on the car.I like the car but it is driving me nuts with all these problems.
