I turned the wheel and I heard a snap and the wires off the steerin' wheel have ripped off and had to go to a scrap yard to get a new clock spring and was a pain in the arse, the steering light came on on the dash, also with the airbag off and none of the buttons on the wheel worked, nore the horn!

had ta pay 150€ (171$) and the change wasn't that bad just painful.

Passat 2.5 (170hp) Highline Cbt 279678

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,202 miles

Clock spring / slip ring was broken, Airbag light is on, Horn, steering control buttons not working, and there's an annoying sound when turning the steering. I have consulted it to the dealer and asking me for 2400AED. that's about $667. It's just too much and I never had any accident when it happened. I was just turning into a slope when it just all disappeared. It's just super disappointing.

I hope that my car will e included in recall. Feel free to contact me in my email.

Volkswagen did a clock spring recall after the first time it broke . Repair lasted 2 years and then it has broke again . Volkswagen wont cover it . This is unacceptable ! I own and operate my own repair shop and work on these vehicles and many others . No other vehicle has multiple clock spring failures . So tired of this car that we are going to get rid of it and will never buy another Volkswagen again . This was our second one . These cars are garbage !!!!!
