So unlike Janelle who went to a shoddy repair shop who basically took her for a trip to the bank, I went to my trusted neighborhood garage and I explained what was going on. I told them that I had lost power steering and that it was making a whine. They tell me that I would have to wait until Monday March 14th to be able to get an appointment and they have had it since. They fixed the Power Steering Leak but now it is currently sucking in air. While I could have taken it home Today March 16th I decided to air on the side of caution and have them give it one more look over, because unlike Janelle I don't give vague problems to my local mechanics. Personally I only trust German Built cars after having an American Car have an engine blow up on me and a Japanese Car have a transmission blow on me.

whines when turning

In May of 2014 I purchased a 2012 VW Passat from Western NY, a little over 46,000 miles on it.

I noticed an issue with the power steering fluid after the first couple of months owning the car. It would disappear, completely. Not thinking much of it at first, I'd refill it and it would be good for a few months. In November of 2015, I noticed a horrible whine from my car whenever I would turn my wheel or when there was a raise in RPM's. I took it to a shop, they replaced my whole steering rack, because my fluid was leaking into my boot making it so pressurized that it was ruining my car. And nothing changed, the noise was still there and now worse than before. Next was the pump, and still nothing changed, and it made my car lose so much fluid I have to carry bottles of it in my car to simply drive down the road to the store. Then the shop noticed that I had a crack in my line for my power steering, manufacturing fault. It's already taken over $1000 to fix this, and there's more money that has to go in. There's air getting into my steering system. It's not worth it. And who's to say that driving my car all this time hasn't already done more damage?

A VW is something I would never buy again, it was a great car at first, but let me just say that there is a lot that I am sure I still do not know.
