Passat SE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Drivers door will not lock. When driving all the doors continue to try and lock at the 10 mph threshold. Very annoying. Door lock button on key fob will activate (horn beeps/ security alarm armed) and locks all doors except drivers door. Had to replace the drivers door latch assembly ( part is $300 +). I am the original owner and the Passat has been good to me so far as only a few very minor issues in 72K miles.

Dealer said that the VW locks don't like cold weather! He wanted me to replace them with new ones that don't like cold weather either!

The lock in the driver's side door is malfunctioning. It doesn't lock most of the time & requires that I unlock and lock the car over & over several times before it finally kicks in. This happens both with the interior lock buttons and the key fob. I can't ever be sure that my car is securely locked. On top of it, if I can't get it to lock, the car annoyingly tries to lock the doors automatically every time I accelerate from a stop. This car is too new for things like this to be happening. Couple this with the problems I had with my 2006 Jetta & I have reason enough never to go back to VW.
