problem #2

Passat LX 2.5L V5

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

This is NOT a Volkswagen, as indicated by the parts manufactured and assembled in Mexico. During my less than 3 years with this car, there was a problem after another, that VW Dublin never fixed (although we had extended warranty). It is to mention VW Dublin doesn't even return your calls and if they do answer, keep you on hold 'indefinitely'. Worse customer service I have ever encountered car-wise.

After continuous problems with this car (broken AC, broken wipers, weak windshield, weak body, sporadic problems opening car, weak tires, etc...,), the last straw came when battery went out, after less than 3 years, 1 month after routine maintenance, where it apparently wasn't checked.

No battery=no lasting cell phone signal. This is worth mentioning as VW's roadside assistance takes up to 1h to answer during 'peak" hours. After finally calling VW Dublin, I was actually told to have battery repaired elsewhere, pay for it, no compensation/towing (I had an exhausted, wailing toddler), that its a normal occurrence and basically, my problem.

Last straw: I sold car next day to another dealer, loosing a lot of money as it appears this brand also has defective airbags (with metal shards), which was never disclosed to me!!!!

This car and its dealers put my children and I in imminent danger. Obviously, we will NEVER get a VW again-the brand id now ruined and an absolute, and dangerous, joke.

Passat SE Tdi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,100 miles

This is the second time that the engine lost power. This time I was trying to accelerate onto Rt. 301 and the vehicle behind me luckily avoided me. (scary) The glow plug light starting flashing and this time- the AdBlue light came on. I limped it to the dealership and told them that I have NO confidence in this car now. I drove it about 30 miles since the last time this happened. (cost me about $930 to fix it then) I have been reading about this problem and learned the Europe has a class action lawsuit filed. (sounds similar) A friend who is familiar with VW said that this a KNOWN problem. I just got a call from VW- they said it was a faulty fuse. I don't believe it because the last time it lost power the fuse went bad too. It is much more than a fuse problem! Something is very wrong here.
