Car dies while driving, all power just shuts off, except for the hazard lights and brakes. It happens randomly, cannot see a pattern, could be a mile from home or 10 miles, hot weather or cool, could happen once a week or several times an hour. After coasting to a safe place to pull off the road, I wait a few minutes, maybe 5 minutes and the car will start and drive as normal. No malfunction lights come on, no warning. This should never happen, it's dangerous and just a matter of time before it creates a car wreck. One mechanic thought it was an air hose. Nope. Another advised going to the dealership. The VW dealership service dept replaced a crank shaft position sensor. That did nothing to remedy the problem. Returned to same dealership, this time, they say it is the Power Relay for the ECM and the J519 Module. This must be a very complicated problem right? WTF? No car should ever cut power completely while driving unless it is about to explode.
