TIPM isn't working apparently. Changed battery, alternator, fuel pump and more with this van. I'm thoroughly exasperated! It's clearly a manufacturing issue, but the VW dealership won't acknowledge this, nor is interested in changing it without a substantial fee. This clearly should be recalled for the following reasons:
-It's apparent in the sister car (Chrysler), which has THE SAME PART and they have recalled
-Causes accidents and deaths
No one can explain to me why VW doesn't want to take ownership of something that is clearly an issue. They have lost a repeat customer, and I'm not the only one.

It appears that the TIPM issue is well known to both Chrysler and Volkswagen. My car, the 2012 Volkswagen Routan, has the
From my discovery request with Volkswagen: "the part number for the Totally Integrated Power Module in the 2012 Volkswagen Routan is VW 7B0937049. The part number in the Volkswagen Routan translates to Chrysler’s part number 68105507 AC/AD."
And, based on the reporting on this site, its clear that about 1 mm cars were recalled in the settlement from "Velasco et al. v. Chrysler Group LLC, Case No. 2:13-cv-08080". And, there are likely 7mm or more affected.
Trying to get any more details from people who have fought VW or Chrysler about this part and any success - that I can use in my current small claims case.
Thanks...

Update from Jun 4, 2019: Update on my small claims case against Volkswagen.
I went to a bench (judge) trial last week on 28May 2019. VW denied any responsibility stating that the car is out of warranty and that the part would have been covered under the bumper to bumper until 3yr/36k, but not the power train at 5yr/60k miles
Either way, my problem was at 62k miles.
Even though I proved that the original part was updated to new Mopar part number, I could not prove it was updated due to a design flaw. So if anyone takes VW to court, ask in Discovery why the part was updated as only VW knows this. They got away with simply stating part numbers change for all kinds of reasons in court and I could not refute it with evidence. VW actually not only sent their attorney, but also a VW product liability expert that does this for a living.
They really are going to fight this tooth and nail, but hopefully my experience gives someone a better way to prepare their case.

My minivan Routan never had any problems until 21 March 2018 when the engine shut off (completely die) while driving. Happened twice in the same week. I have contacted several mechanics, electro mechanics, VW dealership personnel and the VW Corporate office. Since then it has happened again several times. So far nobody knows what the problem could be and much less its solution.
I have been in communication (e-mails) with the Corporate VW Office more specifically the Regional Case Manager Office. All they have said is that they are sorry for the situation and offered to be the liaison to make an appointment with the Flagship Dealership in Bayamon Puerto Rico. This are very weak actions. I was expecting the Corporate Office Rep to be more actively involved meaning to be really interested in looking for a permanent solution to this very serious safety problem/situation that is happening to probably hundreds of VW owners.
A couple of the times the car engine stalled I was driving over 55 mph and the van was carrying 6 persons including the driver, my two handicapped adults, my wife , my 90 years old mother in law and my wife's 88 years old aunt. Not a beautiful situation and I was able to maneuver, without power steering and brakes to a safe area.
Bottom line is that VW owners are complaining about this situation and the probability for a fatal accident is greater as time passes It is more economically to fix and prevent recurrence of the problem rather than be sorry of the results.

The car will just shut down while driving. No warning, no lights, no check engine, no power steering or power breaks (I have to put all I got into trying to steer the car to just pull over!). I have to bring the car to a complete stop and restart it. It has happened about 10 times. Took it to 2 garages and they could not figure out the problem because the car never gave any computer codes when it would shut down. Ended up at VW dealer and they found the problem, the TIPM module ($1300 replacement). Made me wonder how VW could figure it out in 1 day, but it took 2 professional garages 2 weeks and they could never find the problem themselves. Maybe VW knows of this issue and has failed to inform the owners of these vehicles. If my van shuts off on the freeway, this could be very serious!

Step up to the plate, VW, and deal with this TIPM issue. My wife and two children just about died because of a faulty TIPM on our 2012 VW Routan. I restore VW's for crying out loud and wear VW shirts and hats and yet you guys won't do the right thing here.
