After noticing oil spots on the driveway for several weeks and asking the wife to park on the street. it was towed to the dealership for a TIPM ( not Starting) issue. Asked them to check for the leak. The service tech called and said the Rear Main Seal needed to be replaced. Its worth mentioning that the leak had appeared and disappeared abruptly several months prior and none of the mechanics that changed the oil knew where it was coming from, suffice to say they were puzzled... they went from checking the valve cover to oil pan and plug to blaming the previous shops and still couldn't find where the oil was coming from. Well.. Mr VW dealer did.. to the whooping sound of $2000.00. NOTE - Its a little flange seal that's between the transmission and the engine, that they sold for $80.00- $105.00 ( depending on your model engine) oh "yeah you have the bolts and the gasket and whatever else that goes to replace it" What a VW RIP_OFF and this is another one of the multiple junk issues with this VW/Chrysler vehicle. I told the wife to trade (turn) it in years ago !!!!

Common problem with the VW Routan, Town and Country and some additional cars with a plastic oil filter housing assembly. Mine cracked about a month after most recent oil filter change. I made the mistake of taking car to a shop and the cost for the replacement was astronimical. I should've purchased it online and for the labor. Lesson learned.
