It is my understanding there have been reports of issues with the rear brakes on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. Some owners have complained about excessive brake noise, premature wear, and in some cases, problems with the electronic parking brake. These issues have led to concerns about the reliability and safety of the braking system in the Taos. It-??s also my understanding Volkswagen has acknowledged some of these problems and has issued technical service bulletins (TSBs) to address complaints. I am experiencing rear brake issues on my 2022 Taos' rear brakes as stated above. I have not been issued a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) nor has Volkswagon Corporate USA issued any recalls. My car has 18,000 miles and is scheduled to go in for service this Wednesday. When I called my dealership-??s service department, the service manager stated he was aware of premature rear brake wear on the 2022 Taos. I find it hard to believe Volkswagon Corporate doesn-??t know about this problem however the service manager does. An internet inquiry will prove TSB-??s have been issued. One source is ChatGBT among other sources. I fully expect this to be covered under warranty and if it not, I would like to know how I can contact someone directly at the NHTSA if possible.

There is a break issue where they are using cheap quality parts. My car has 26,000 miles in 3 years and the breaks and rotors are all gone. When we try to break the whole car starts shaking. Dealership know about the issue but won-??t replace the break pads because of car having 2000 more miles than warranty.

Car has 11,144. Took it in for coolant issues had NY State Inspection done. Was told rear brakes and rotors needed to be replaced at the cost of1000.00 dollars. I need to check fronts in 6 months. I use the car mostly to see my daughter and granddaughter in Ct. mostly highway driving. I went on line and found a lot of customers are having the same problem. This is my third VW LEASE I never had a problem with brakes. I was upset that this is a problem for a lot of people. I also have a check engine check coolant problem. This will be the sixth time I am bringing the car in. They are keeping my car with no loaner for a week to replace the head gasket. I have a baby shower on Long Island for my niece and will have to pay hundreds of dollars for a rental or Uber. I am disabled and live on a thousand dollars a month.

Rear brakes wore so rapidly they were deemed unsafe for driving by state inspection, down to under 2mm in a year. Volkswagen knew it was an issue and extended the warranty, but put such limitations on when they would cover the warranty they caused customers to drive on unsafe rear brakes before they would consider coverage.

ABS, Tire Pressure monitor system, front/rear/side assist warning lights lit up while driving solid yellow indicating there was an error. Also a start stop error light on. Stayed lit for one minute and then they all went away. This is now happening every day for the past three days. Today the steering light turn on as well and had difficulty with steering the wheel for about 30 seconds. These incidents occurred after turning the car on after it had been parked for 5 hours. Then while driving at 30-40 mph.

I took our 2022 VW Taos in for 15,000 mile service. The service advisor said the rear brakes were at 3mm and need to be replaced along with rotors. The brakes shouldn't be this low for the mileage on the car. Apparently, there was a time frame to repair the brakes in 2022 when we made the purchase and VW didn't inform us of the brake issue at the time. VW service says it'll cost over $900 to replace pads and rotors.

I built this car brand new at the end of 2021, received in February 2022. At 20,000 miles, my car was already noted to have rear brakes that were substandard and significantly more worn than is normal for wear and tear on a brand new vehicle. At this time, I was not informed of the problem, and it was led to continue until I went in for standard 30k maintenance. When I went in for the 30k maintenance, i was told my rear brakes would already need to be replaced. There is no brand new car that should need brakes replaced at 30k. Volkswagen has extended their warranty on the brakes to 24k, but since my car was out of that mileage range, it is not covered by the warranty. The brake warranty should be extended to 40k miles - as even with hard use, you still shouldn't need your brakes replaced until at least 50k.

Rear Brake and Rotors- At about 14,500 miles the vehicle started making this screeching noise. Rear brake pads and rotors wearing out prematurely. There is no indication through the health reports sent by VW or Carfax (VW affiliated) that is nothing wrong (all healthy). I took to dealership. The customer service rep at Rudolph VW in El Paso, TX told me that "the front brakes were great and the rear brakes were at about 6/10 and to come back in a few months before the 20,000 miles warranty ran out. That VW was aware about the supplier but could not do anything at this point". This is a safety issue and its a Warranty covered issue as is under 20,000 miles. I never had a vehicle with this issue. I fear for my life. I am at about 16,500. I don't know I f am going to make it to 20,000. Another issue I have with this vehicle is that the engine light came on as I was driving. I called it in and they simply said oh yes that's usual. This is a new vehicle! I am about to take it in this week.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that while driving out of the driveway, the brakes made an abnormal sound. Additionally, the instrument panel became inoperable. The coolant warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty gasket. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000. The VIN was not available.

Brakes are on this care are failing well in advance of typical cars. My car's rear brakes are messing at a 3 with less than 20,000 miles on the vehicle. I'm aware of a safety campaign, but VW says my car wasn't made in that window. Clearly something is wrong or my brakes wouldn't be wearing out at less than half of what is expected. Ironically, my wife's Passat is doing the same.

Our Taos is Bartley 18 months old and has less than 20k miles. Our coolant level was super low. We got the car towed (because we were on a road trip) and the dealership said it was low but that is normal and they refilled the coolant. Now we went for our 20k inspection and the said that the coolant Gasket has blown. The dealership mentioned they had a bunch come in with the same issue. When looked online many said they have the same issues and have been waiting MONTHS for the parts as everything is on back order. We now are uncertain if the fix will work and are worried that in a year or so the whole thing will blow again and we will be out of a car for weeks again( they said they might have it fixed in the next 4-6 weeks- so we are out of a car until then). Additonally the back brake pads are way lower than they are supposed to be. Dealership said again that they see that regularly at VW Taos. All this can be safety issues!!!!

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle failed to stop immediately while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure but indicated that an intermittent failure of the electronic transmission control module was possible. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 2,000.

2 instances occurred where the auto start/stop initiated in the midst of driving resulting in a stall and required the car to be restarted in order to start driving again. One time occurred while backing up and another while taking a turn both at low speeds. There was a recall on 2021 Volkswagen Taos-??s for the same problem. I brought the car to the dealership to be assessed and the car remained in the service lot from 7/6/23 to 7/17/23, however the problem could not be recreated. Thus the car was returned to me without any solution. I clearly stated to them that I am picking up the car against my wishes as no solution was found and this has been extremely dangerous almost causing accidents.
