Again, it took several mechanics to figure out why the coolant was leaking out almost immediately. After replacing a bunch of things that likely didn't need to be replaced, a mechanic identified the coolant pump as the likely culprit, and we replaced it, as well as another pipe that had deteriorated altogether because of the leak. This stopped the leak.

Second water pump failure on this vehicle ...first time at 36552 miles replaced under warranty; new pump failure 18 months later at 52237 miles .... second replacement VW covered.

Update from Jul 30, 2018: this was SECOND qwater puimp fialure on this vehicle... first on05/10/16 at 37132 miles and then seoond at 52237 miles ...15000 miles between replacemenmt... major job, requires new water pump and repalcemnt of under-enginen oil pan (pump ios undddr the engine).... dealer cot of repaior (covered under warranty $2000).
