This problem is a pain in the ass, not a expensive or difficult to resolve, but annoying as f*ck.
I've replaced a 3 ignition coils in less than 6 months. The best part of it, is that you can do it yourself without any tool (if you know exactly what is the problem).

Just picked up my (new to me) 2013 VW Tiguan 2.0 TSI yesterday that I bought from a dealer that is 1.5 hours from my residence. I now have driven it 100 miles and the check engine light came on. Oh, did I mention it is a "CERTIFIED" used VW which means it has been totally checked over and is like "NEW" they said. It does come with a 2 year bumper to bumper though. I took it to my local VW shop and they hooked the car up to the machine that reads the codes and found out that the turbo is going bad. The vehicle only has 33,000 miles on it. He then looked up my vehicle and asked me twice if it was certified and I relied that was what I was informed upon purchase. He said that it does not show that it has been certified. I am hoping that it just has not been entered in computer since I have only had it for 19 hours. He set up an appointment for next week to get it fixed because and said that it could be a $3,000.00 repair or could be some smaller problem effecting the Turbo. This makes the second VW that I have owned that has had Turbo issues. My last was a 2009 VW Jetta with 89,000 miles on it. I am so disappointed right now. Hopefully this will be taken care of easily.

My mechanic replaced the intake manifold, and meticulously gleaned the sludge from my cylinders, which turned the check engine light off for about 10 miles. It also ADDED a new light to my general Xmas type array on the OBD - now the EPC light is on, too, and the idle is effed up. More to come in next complaint.
