I owned an Audi 5000 years ago and was able to remove the key while the vehicle was turned off and in the drive gear. This happened in a country club parking lot and my car rolled through the lot almost causing harm to a fellow golfer.
I recently leased a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan and experienced the same issue. I pressed the off button while the vehicle was in the drive position. I got out of the car and it started rolling away.
Why don't all keyless autos have a safe-guard preventing the vehicle from being turned off while in the drive position?
