Tiguan SE 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 270 miles

Severe throttle hesitation on acceleration from start or 35-45 mph. Turning left or stalls on deceleration from highway speeds. Been in shop twice spent most of day first day with NO loner or offer of transportation service cleared codes told to drive to test condition for next couple weeks....NO improvement if not worse. Next visit supplied me with a loaner vehicle 2020 Tiguan with 1200 miles RAN THE SAME. Very hot humid conditions . Vehicle was in service for 8 days says they could not duplicate condition and no codes or software upgrades was told to contact VW customer service. After logging a complaint, I was told I would be contacted by week’s end… and was not.

Took 3+ weeks for contact and was told not heard of this problem and would contact the dealer for consultation to no avail - I was told it was a NORMAL operating condition. Service tech took a ride with me and agreed there is a definite problem and service is limited as to what they can do with their locked computer theirs showed NO codes or problems another shop i took it to with a Snap-On scanner showed 4 code problems and lean running condition.

My wife is scared and does not feel safe. Severe loss of acceleration and throttle response is worse in hot humid conditions - 80+ degrees. In cooler less humid conditions it runs better. I’ve had 6 Toyotas, 3 Rav4s with NO problems, proves mistakes will be made and VW does not seem to care. Another reason to lease not buy so you can get rid of problem childes. LAST VW for me and anyone I know.

Tiguan S 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

2019 Tiguan S 4Motion purchased Feb 2020 and already having issues with accelerating after a stop. Have had it chug/not accelerate in the middle of at least 2 intersections now. Both times I was almost hit! Pedal to the floor and does nothing to accelerate! Sounds like it wants to but doesn’t. Dealer hasn’t been able to recreate the issue so for now “there isn’t a problem” with my car. Called VW Corp to have them help.

Tiguan SEL R Line 4cl Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,100 miles

Bought my 2019 VW Tiguan SEL R Line brand new from the dealer- it has happened 2x since I bought it. While stopped at a light, when its time to accelerate, you push the gas pedal and nothing- as if there is no gas in the car. It stumbles at a slow pace then it jumps to a start about 5-6 seconds later ( with the stop start off ) This has also happened when pulling out into traffic, you pull out and the car almost dies out- no power and you pump the gas pedal and it finally will go- very dangerous. The second time was turning on to an onramp to get on the highway. I turned to go/ merge on the highway and it suddenly slows to a crawl as if there is no gas getting to the engine- had to pull over to the emergency lane to avoid getting rear ended. No warning light or sounds were emitted, but very alarming to have no power to you car in situations like this. VW says its a characteristic of the car???? They try to pawn it off on Turbo Lag, but this is not Turbo lag- I deal with that daily, this is no power, gas pedal to the floor.
