Was almost back home after a short journey... Suddenly while driving at a relatively low speed the car lost power and engine died... Left me in the middle of a busy uphill mountain road without any warning... just died! All attempts to restart the engine failed... Car had to be towed! In fact a passing by driver wanted to help me tow the car to a repair center with his 45 year old Lada Niva! Can you imagine that?! A 40+ year old Lada Niva 4x4 could tow the VW's flagship automobile!
Very shocking experience and my next step after repair is to sell it off for any price I can get.. Reliability is gone at this point and time... I bought this car 2nd hand not long ago after intensive service/computer check so I can have a piece of mind in the rough winter over here... I could not imagine that a VW flagship luxury SUV could really leave you in the middle of the road just like that!
This is not the only problem I have had with this car... Exhaust system/ DEF filter issues frequently, even becks had to be replaced because the car was smoking too much from incorrect fuel inflow... But did not leave me on the road helpless! I always use best Diesel quality (most expensive with highest rating in the market - costs 150 USD to fill it up), so fuel was not an issue!
There are other more cosmetic issues, like intermittent failures with auto-lights, locks and things like that, as well as seat belt mechanisms on rear middle seat... But not important...
In short... car is very disappointing ... Definitely in Europe we lost the art of making good cars at the end of the century.. Most new models lack reliability in the long term, at least compared to Japanese Makers. I have also a Toyota - same mileage on it.. spotless! Service is on a regular bases... In fact a month before this incident I finished paying for an 800 USD regular service ...
