I purchased this car only 3 months ago. It was Volkswagen "Certified" and I purchased an additional 2 years of "bumper to bumper" Volkswagen Warranty. We got a little rain here in Florida one week and I was simply driving the car around for normal, light use. Apparently, that was enough to cause water to be ingested into the air filter, then the engine, causing major and very expensive damage. I paid the bill, but subsequently researched similar sounding complaints and I learned that there is actually a recall in China for this exact same issue. As it turns out, there is a faulty design related to how water is drained and if the tubes get clogged water backs up into the filter and then is ingested into the engine. When this happens, big trouble! Volkswagen should be ashamed of not acknowledging this problem and fixing it worldwide, vs just in China. They are actually benefiting from it financially as people like me are sucked unknowingly into purchasing their vehicles and then getting stuck with huge repair bills.
