The contact owns a 2004 Volvo S40. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal became difficult to depress. Also, the contact mentioned that due to the proximity of the pedals, the brake pedal was inadvertently depressed when applying the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Consumer is experiencing on going problems with applying the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal simultaneously. The condition causes the vehicle to accelerate when applying the brakes. The vehicle has been to the dealer. The dealer informed the consumer that nothing was wrong and the vehicle meets NHTSA specification.
