About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
My 1 1/2 years old Volvo S40 did this twice, shortly after starting it and moving it for a couple of miles. It displayed the message "brake failure stop car safely", "anti-skid system failure", "reduced engine performance". the car could not go more than 15 mph. After parking it, I could not restart the engine and the messages kept repeating in random order. The first time that I took it to the dealer they said that they changed the computer message module (the mechanic carried a box with many plugs in it, just to show me what it looked like). But just after 500 miles, the problem re-appeared. Now the car is in the repair shop, and people do not know what to do with it for two weeks.

The contact owns a 2006 Volvo S40. While driving at any speed, the air condition emits hot air. The failure occurs while the air conditioner is set at 65 degrees. The outside temperature gauge was replaced, but that did not remedy the failure. The vehicle has been taken to two dealers on approximately twelve occasions. The vehicle still has not been properly repaired. The current mileage was 3,100 and failure mileage was 500.
