Car is using 1 quart of expensive syn oil every 300 miles. Costly an will destroy this engine, cost to replace engine over 10,000 dollars. I was required to spend 500 dollars for oil consumption test, now Volvo is jerking me around on covering the repairs. Car has less than 80,000 miles and has been well maintained by Volvo dealer ship.

Oil changes were up to date. Never an oil pressure warning. When the check engine light came on, the engine was already destroyed, i.e. cylinders locked. Oil dipstick read that there was only about a quart of oil in the engine. Oil level had been checked just three weeks prior.

For the past year, I noticed my 2013 S60 has been losing oil between oil changes. Volvo replaced a seal in the pan. Not only has the problem persisted, it is now to the point where I'm consuming 3 quarts every 1,000 miles. I've found that the oil is actually burning, not leaking. I've read NUMEROUS complaints about this very issue with this model. This is the 2nd time I've been disappointed with a Volvo and will SURELY be leaving the brand.

I bought this vehicle used with about 50k miles on it. Drove it for 3 years and never had a problem. After driving just and hour and 1/2 the dashboard lite up like a christmas tree. The oil was bone dry even though it was not even close to an oil change being due. I immediately had it serviced and they said nothing looked wrong and changed the oil. Within a few weeks I checked the oil and it was super low and for almost a year now I've had to add oil to it every week or so depending on how much I drive.
I don't drive a ton and it's not been a serious hassle but this is not normal. I called Volvo and they said I needed to take the car for a certified Volvo mechanic and was told by them that I need to first have an oil change for $175 then have an oil consumption test done which would take 2 phased and cost me around $300 to $500 each visit. Just to see why it's consuming so much oil. It's cheaper to just add oil at this point and try and sell the vehicle.
After researching, I'm seeing this is a known issue with my year vehicle. However I was told by Volvo that since I didn't have all my repairs done at Volvo that they'd like not be able to help me. I really love the vehicle and thought I was buying it for the long hall but looks like I'll be selling it or adding oil every few weeks which I'm sure will destroy the vehicle more. Pretty disappointed in Volvo!
