About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The contact owns a 2000 Volvo S70. The contact stated that in conditions over 100 degrees, the key fob will not unlock the doors to the vehicle. He would have to manually open the doors. When the failure occurs while the contact is sitting in the front seat, he cannot open the rear doors because the rear power door locks also fail. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and they stated that it was an engineering failure that could not be solved. The current and failure mileages were 74,000. The consumer stated the door unlocking problem is worse when the sun is shining directly on the door. The automatic unlocking feature within the vehicle located on the front doors or from the key ring will not open the doors. They can only be opened by pulling up the individual door locking button.
