The contact owns a 2000 Volvo S70. While driving approximately 45 mph, the check engine light illuminated intermittently. Approximately three months later, the electronic throttle system (ets) light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they cleaned the ets. When the contact went to retrieve the vehicle, the ets light illuminated again and the vehicle was left at the dealer. The current mileage was 78,728 and failure mileage was 78,528.

My 2000 Volvo S70 failed on I-55 in Ms. And I had to pull off the road in high speed traffic. It was very dangerous. Each time the failure was immediately preceded by the ets light coming on.

My 2000 Volvo S70 had a malfunction of the electronic throttle control module and I almost got rear ended on the highway when the car have an abrupt loss of speed. I took the car to a Volvo dealer and was charged $1,500 to replace the module about 5 weeks ago but it looks like the car is starting to malfunction again.

2000 S70 - multiple repairs and multiple recurring incidents of this same problem! check engine light comes on, engine runs rough, tach bounces and power deminishes becoming a sever hazard in high speed traffic. Dealer found the problem to be "known issues" with the electronic air mass and throttle systems. Replaced twice while under warranty, extended warranty denied, shortly out of warranty and problem returns again. Dealership nor Volvo will take any corrective action on >$1000 repair (which according to the service tech is almost guaranteed to return). This is my third Volvo, and certainly my last.

Consumer was traveling 60mph in a 65mph zone. Passing another vehicle going 60mph he floored throttle and ets light came up on dashboard. Vehicle went down to 2,000 RPM's. consumer pulled over, and read manual, starting vehicle back up and it happened again. Dealer didn't know what to do. They had to inspect it for problem. The tube going from behind the grill to the air cleaner inlet was collapsing causing lack of air flow to the engine. The tube was removed and the problem was solved.
