About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Over the last 1.5 ' 2 years the vehicle 2002 Volvo S80 has displayed a fuel odor in the interior of the vehicle and close proximity of the exterior in the summer months. June of 2008 received warranty notice from Volvo that there has been a voluntarily extended warranty to cover the fuel pump for vehicles that displayed a fuel odor. January 8, 2009 I took the vehicle to the local Volvo dealership for routine maintenance and displayed the letter sent by Volvo in regards to the failure of the fuel pump. The dealership declined to repair the vehicle due to the technician could not smell fuel fumes at the time of service. Volvo has knowledge that there is a potential issue with the fuel pump failure and could create a potential safety and prolong health issues for the individuals in the interior of the of the vehicle. I am requesting the help of NHTSA to resolve the above issue and be able assist other consumers with the similar issues.
