Vehicle had been function properly upon departing suffolk county community college selden NY. Driver made several turns and braked multiple times. Diver downshifted that caused the vehicle to moderately slow. Volvo clearly rates the V60 for towing. However Volvo does not sell their towing hitch and electronics modifications in the United States. This is concerning as their hitches on all other cars interact with the vehicle stability control systems to alter its behavior when towing. Further their european hitch does not end up under the rear bumper energy absorption structure like all of the after market ones available (limiting the effectiveness of the energy absorption ability in a rear impact. Their dealers have no recommendation to maintain a safe vehicle while towing and yet Volvo claims a towing capacity.
