This car has an oil consumption problem but Volvo advises it will not repair. Other, similar models have similar oil consumption problems that are the subject of recall. This was also subject of class action lawsuit We have had to spend hundreds out of pocket to repair. Why isn't this model year in the recall" Other years - same engine - before and after this are subject of recall"

Excessive oil consumption. Piston ring failure. Cylinder 1 spark plug failure due to oil buildup.

Engine check light came on, engine power fell off, notification to dealer sent by computer. Brought car into dealer, left for inspection. Informed sparkplug tip was ingested by engine. Boroscope revealed spark plug was missing tip.engine had low pressure in cylinder 30 vs 180. Volvo warranty was in force. Mileage 21325 miles at time of event was traveling on freeway and was experiencing difficulty in maintaining speed currently have been unable to get clear plan of repair or replacement from dealer due to Volvo need to inspect engine being delayed..

Car experiences predetonation/preignition of the spark plugs. This causes the timing to be retarded, causing a very dangerous lack of power, I have taken the car in 7X for resolution, they have rebuilt the engine, issue is reoccurring. Volvo cars of na is doing nothing to resolve the issue. There are multiple reports of this issue on the internet (sweedespeed ethusiast forum) as well as many other examples of this yet, once again, Volvo cars na is refusing to address or resolve this issue resulting in a danger to the american public. I have included the letter I sent to scott doering, vp of customer service, he had one of his team call me today to deny my request to extend the warranty or resolve the issue. In my letter is the chronology of service visits, of which I also have the receipts.

During acceleration, engine makes a ping/knock sound and then the car loses power for a couple of seconds. The issue is intermittent. It happens several times per day. The car, 2015 Volvo V60, began shutting off its motor when I came to a stop or when I put it in park and a few times when I came to a hard stop. This would require my putting the car in park, if not already, pressing the break pedal and pushing the start button. During these times, the steering wheel would lock up as it should if a driver purposely turned their car off. The symptom would happen intermittently. I left my car for a week with the local Volvo dealer hoping this sporadic problem would be successfully diagnosed. A service department tech drove my car for the week. At the end of the week, I was told my car did not exhibit any of the symptoms, but, if a warning appeared on the dashboard, this would precipitate a diagnosis. Two months later the problem became much worse and scarier. My husband was safely passing another car which was going ten miles under the speed limit on a two way road. At the point he is beside the other vehicle, the Volvo loses power. He applies excelleration, but the car does not respond. The cars which were behind my husband have closed the gap he just vacated making it impossible for him to move back in position. Now oncoming traffic is headed his way. Fortunately, he is able to cut in front of the slower moving car leaving less than a foot of clearance between he and the other car. This time the warning "reduced engine performance" is displayed on the dashboard. The car is immediately towed to the local dealer who, again, drives the car for a week and finds nothing wrong. More importantly, the dashboard warning apparently carries no significance, because a code is not pulled during computer diagnostics and there is no other recourse. I am sent home with an unsafe and dangerous vehicle. I bought a Volvo for its safety and reliability. How ironic! I will never buy another. Shame on Volvo. Buyer beware.
