The windshield leaks. The seal is no good. I get wet every time it rains. No repair messages or warning lights were issued by the car. The repair service inspected the car, and they stated the factory glue was non-existent on the seal. Very poor.

I recently was forced to use the pry-off cap and manual key entry to get into my 2013 Volvo XC60. This was due to the vehicle-??s lack of response to the fob, there was no communication between the fob and the electrical system. Once inside, inserting the fob, the engine started but the entire instrument cluster was flashing intermittently the various warning lights, and the windows could not be lowered. The cluster showed failure of speedometer, tachometer, brake system, seat belts and all other gauges on the cluster. Not knowing whether it was safe to drive, I turned it off. I returned later and turned it on, same problem. I went around the block, contacted the Volvo dealer for consultation, and secured an emergency appointment to bring it in. On the next day/the appointment, I drove the car in, during which the systems seemed to have reset themselves, but halfway there the problem started again. At this point the vehicle has been there (Howard Orloff Volvo, 1924 N. Paulina St, Chicago, 1.877.570.6927) since the 28th, they have not been able to give me a diagnosis, and the bill is over $600. How can this problem NOT be a safety risk for ordinary person such as myself" It is my understanding, from researching this, that this is a common and recurring problem so why has there NOT been a recall for what is obviously a defect inherent in this make and model car" Kindly respond with a reference number for this complaint. Thank you very much.

The issue is with the windshields separating from the bonding agent ( not sealing ) it is cause for a safety issue not only because it is loose and can move when pushed up, but water is entering the vehicle through the top part of the windshield and entering the electrical controls for the lights and sun roof causing a potential short or shock hazard, not to mention ruining the interior of the vehicle, ( headliner, mold..etc..). I and many other's ( see link below) feel it is necessary to have Volvo make the replacement of windshields in their vehicles. https://beranek.agrrmag.com/2015/04/volvo-glass-bonding-issue/

The front seal on my windshield glass is not connected, the adhesive us either gone or not working anymore. You can push the glass up and see it move visibly when pushed. The leak is impacting my safety while driving. Yesterday ice cold water was dripping onto my lap while I was driving (distracting), as well as obstructing my vision while it ran down the inside of the glass. An independent glass company has inspected the windshield and duplicated the issues I have mentioned above. They mentioned that they have seen many of these faulty windshield seals and thought there might be a recall, but I have not been able to see one from Volvo.

Can affect electrical safety features in car. Cannot see while driving. Other people all over internet have this issue. Reported it to dealer.

The problem started 2 years ago and has progressively become worse. The original windshield is leaking water, which drains down inside the A-pillar and windshield. Water also leaks into the air-bag in the A-pillar, and moisture may come in contact with the electronic parts in the dashboard, creating a safety issue and a potential fire hazard. Last year I contacted Tucson Volvo for help, and they referred me to JD Auto Glass (520-370-6599). The local dealer refused to take any responsibility for this safety defect. There have been heavy rains recently in Tucson, and water is dripping onto my lap while I am driving, and trying to wipe the dashboard dry. This causes a major distraction and obstructs my vision, since the water continuously runs down the inside of the windshield glass. Yesterday I contacted Tucson Volvo again, and they referred me to Tony's AutoGlass (520-889-2422). The Owner/Manager of Tony's AutoGlass informed me that leaking windshields are a very common problem with Volvos. I believe this is a very serious safety defect, and am seeking help from your office. Thank You!

There is a leak on my front windshielhe, drivers side.. when it rains water seeps in.. the leak impacts my safety while driving. Eg: yesterday ice cold water was dripping onto my lap while I was driving (distracting), as well as obstructing my vision while it ran down the inside of the glass ). it seems many Volvo owners are experiencing the same problems especially XC60's. apparently the seal did not adhere correctly therefore, eventually all xc's will experience if not recalled by Volvo. The airbags are supported by the front windshield and if not fixed, may lead to death for may Volvo owners. Please help us with Volvo corporate. This matter requires immediate attention.

When entering three local intersections the city safety auto brake engages even though there is nothing in front of the car. It has only happened at these 3 locations. They are light controlled intersections with inground sensors. Speeds have always been less than 10 mph. The most concerning example was the braking stopped the car and then when my spouse attempted to continue through the intersection it stopped her again and she was nearly rear ended. All three appear to have been updated or are new. This has been going on for probably a year and it doesn't happen at these intersections 100% of the time, but these are the only intersections we have had the issue, in the 4 years we have owned the car. I had the car looked at when it was in for our last oil change and the computer is not indicating any error code according to the mechanic. So the system thinks there was something in front of the car. I have not found very much online when trying to search this issue. The date I am listing was the most recent. We do have a video from yesterday.

For several years now I've had to deal with a defective windshield. It leaks water into my car and on me while I'm driving. The water turns to mold until I shampoo it out. It affects my visibility driving. I've tried to get it fixed but I was told it was my sunroof. The sunroof was tested and it is not leaking in the vehicle. There are multiple forums of hundreds of people having the same issue. I worry if I spend 1,000 on a new windshield that if this is an oem problem it will leak again. This issue happens both driving and stationary. But in the meantime I worry about my family getting sick from mold in the car every time it rains as well as when I'm driving my visibility. Volvo needs to be responsible for resealing all of our windshields for free and replacing front carpets. I am not experiencing any electrical issues which is good.

My windshield is leaking from two areas on the top on the driver's side. There are no obvious cracks or scratches which leads me to believe that the seal is defective. As this is part of the vehicle's structural integrity and without a crack, this is a manufacturer's defect and many others have complained about this as well.

Recently noticed when going through drive through car wash, that water is intruding at top of windshield over the steering wheel interior. Took to deal today and said it was the windshield seal and outside of warranty so will cost $437 to repair. I consider this a manufacturers defect and have seen on a Volvo forum that it is a known issue. How is a defect in windshield compromise not a safety issue? Volvo needs to do better as my 6 year old car should not be leaking.

On June 14th driving on Texas 195 at 55mph when message on "low on coolant, pull over". I immmediately pulled over and saw a man race to front passenger side with fire extinguisher. I looked and the rat. Front tire was engulfed in flames. Flames were also coming from under the hood. The police and fire department showed up and F.D. insured fire was out, after contacting my insurance I had the car towed T georgetown Texas, Volvo. Service person person told me to take it to a body shop since they didn't have one. I said car wouldn't run, I was then asked what I had hit and I stated nothing. My wife and I found on the Volvo forum that this had happened to this year, make, and model of car on more than one occasion. All maintenance on car had been done ahead of schedule.

Numerous trips to the local Volvo dealer to find the issue with my Volvo. Last episode 10.07.2016 driving on city streets. Approx. Speed 25-30 mph. Slowing down and making a complete stop. Accelerating to move on but car is not responding. RPM stays at 600 even though gas pedal is pressed down. This can last 3 to 6 seconds. Finally car starts moving. I wanted to park on a fairly steep street in san francisco on 10.06.2016. On the first attempt I was too far away from the side of the street. Put car into reverse and attempted to back up. Again the engine stayed at 600 RPM and did not move at all. Since I was facing downhill the car started to roll downwards. Only my quick reaction I stepped on the brake pedal and pressed it as hard as I could. Car came to a standstill inches away from another car that was parked. This kind of problem is been ongoing.

Mold, mildew and bacteria growing in ventilation system. Initially noticed because of very bad odor coming from air conditioning system. A design flaw in air conditioning/ventilation system. Condenser does not drain properly, causing it to clog and mold/mildew and bacteria grow in the system. Volvo's solution is just change the filters more frequently to spray chemicals in the system rather than fix the problem. A check online shows that there are many other Volvo owners affected by the problem. Condenser should be recalled and fixed properly so that it drains and that mold and bacteria do not grow in the system. Inhalation of mold and bacteria has been shown to cause lung disease, and aggravates conditions like asthma. I have taken my vehicle to the dealer twice to have the problem addressed. They refused to replace the part. I also contacted Volvo corporate offices and they refused to intervene. They also refused to provide contact information for their district manager.
