I had water stains on the drivers side interior column between the window & windshield. They said the drain tubes were clogged with outdoor debris. Of course the is normal wear & tear & not covered by warranty.

I purchased it new in December 2017. I asked if it was inspected on routine service visits. I was told, “probably not”.

I previously owned a 2001 V 70. Had the same problem when the car was 11 years old & $130,000 miles. A local garage repaired it for a lot less than $500.

On line I found that this is a known problem with Volvos. There is at least 1 class action suit. The hose makes a 90* turn and the opening should be wider.

Volvo has issued a service bulletin, has a redesigned the grommet to reduce debris getting clogged. It was not present in my 2016 XC 70.

I asked how to prevent it from happening again, & was told to not park near trees. REALLY?

I maintained the 2001 with a cocktail straw & a can of compressed air. I am a 67 yr old female.

Do you think I should make a You Tube with my maintenance hack?
