problem #3

Jul 182014

XC90 AWD V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 170,000 miles

My ABS and Parking Brake lights were illuminated, and my speedometer needle would "bounce", then stopped. Also my temp gauge and my tachometer and the transmission not shifting and stays on the low shift all the way you drive. Also, when sitting at a stop sign just sitting at idle, the engine would stall and often times stop running.

So I towed the car to the mechanic he said that it's a CEM problem as when it rains the water drops on the hood on the car then falls back towards the CEM and causes a electrical short that makes the engine stall and the power steering stops which makes the car hard to steer. It almost got me drifting from the road but thank god, I'm a strong man, managed to steer the wheel to a road side stop.

I DO-NOT UNDERSTAND HOW VOLVO COMPANY OPERATES AS I'M SURE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST REPORTED ISSUE ABOUT THE CENTER ELECTRICAL MODULE. THIS IS A MALFUNCTION IN DESIGN AND ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SHOULD RECALL THE CARS TO FIX IT !!!!!!!!! I'M THINKING SERIOUSLY TO SUE THE VOLVO COMPANY FOR A LOT OF DESIGN MALFUNCTION ISSUES IN THE CAR THAT I FIXED IN THE PAST YRS AND I SHOULD NOT FIX ISSUES LIKE THIS, IT'S NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUES.

IF willing to join me contact me on matadoro@yahoo,com, lot of strange electrical problems steering module issues etc.... What the hell, I bought a car to drive and commute, not to spend my time and money on fixing design malfunction issues for Volvo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update from Aug 4, 2014: THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I DO WARN FROM THE EFFECT OF WATER OR RAIN ON THE ELECTRICAL PARTS. BE-CAREFUL. THIS CAN CAUSE YOU TO END IN A DITCH !!!!!!!!!!!

XC90 T6 AWD V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

Four times in the last six months, my 2005 Volvo XC90 SUV has left me stranded -- car won't start due to a computer glitch that Bill Kidd Volvo in Hunt Valley, MD is unable to fix after numerous service visits. dealer applies "cem modification", but does not help. When the problem occurs, everything in the vehicle appears normal (e. g. I have battery power, the locks and alarm operate as they should, the transmission is in Park); however the ignition does not recognize the key/key fob to start the vehicle. I have been towed to the dealership twice, and twice the car started after 60-90 minutes of repeated attempts. If you are considering a Volvo XC90, DO NOT BUY OR LEASE ONE! I will be ditching this vehicle once the lease term expires.
