The parking brake doesn't work on a slight slope, in other words it is about as useful as a trap door in a canoe!! (The design is similar to a Corvette or BMW which has the rear rotor/caliper with integral drum for the parking brake only. The vehicle has been back to Volvo 5 times, they've changed the shoes, adjusted the cable so tight that the brakes bind, they changed the shoe retaining (coil) springs (which I told them would do precisely nothing!!) IT IS A DESIGN FAULT and Volvo will not acknowledge that there's a problem. Does anyone know of any aftermarket mods????? ...like maybe changing the rotor/drum assemblies? ...or a different type of shoe material? I shall never buy another car from Volvo!!! The management are a bunch of 'yes men' who are afraid to report there's a serious issue with the XC90.
