problem #1

Feb 072018

XC90 Hybrid Inscription 2.0L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,100 miles

Picked up my car after being in the body shop for an unrelated matter--rear ended at a red light two days after taking delivery from over water shipment--and the environmental fan continued to run. Plugged in the hybrid system to top it off, removed the key from vicinity and locked the vehicle. Fan continued to run...all...night...long, depleting the hybrid drive battery.

Took the vehicle to the dealership on February 8, 2018, and it's been there for most of three calendar weeks. Various (proposed) solutions have been faulty blower, faulty A/C controller, faulty computer, faulty wiring harness. Regardless, the problem is not solved as of Feb 26, and the dealer on Oahu finally requested that the technline assist fly to the island from their office in New Jersey. Tech is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so fingers crossed it gets resolved quickly.

I will update with final solution and timeline.

As a point of order, the dealer did verify that neither the rear bumper replacement nor the initial accident have anything to do with the issue at hand.

Update from Mar 14, 2018: After tech line assistant flew to the island, further troubleshooting revealed corroded wiring harness beneath driver's seat. Harness removed and replaced and symptoms disappeared, returning original design capabilities to the vehicle.

Vehicle was in the shop for 26 calendar days.
