— A Ford brake master cylinder recall includes more than 137,000 Ford F-150, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles in the U.S. and Canada.

The recalled 2017-2018 Ford F-150, 2017-2018 Expedition and 2017-2018 Lincoln Navigator brake master cylinders may allow brake fluid to leak from the front wheel circuits into the brake boosters.

Ford estimates possibly 1% of the vehicles have faulty master cylinders. In addition, this brake master cylinder recall is an extension of a March 2022 master cylinder recall.

A vehicle will lose braking performance and experience extended stopping distances if enough brake fluid is lost.

"If the brake fluid in the reservoir is depleted to a predetermined level, the driver will receive an audible chime, a message center alert, and a red brake warning indicator in the instrument cluster. If the driver continues to operate the vehicle, the driver may begin to experience a change in brake pedal travel and feel, and increased pedal effort." — Ford

Nearly 14,000 of the Ford vehicles are recalled in Canada.

Ford master cylinder recall letters are expected to be mailed April 28, 2025, and dealers will replace the brake master cylinders, part number HL14-2A032-AD. The brake boosters will also be replaced if the master cylinders are leaking.

Ford and Lincoln owners may call 866-436-7332 and ask about master cylinder recall number 25S37.
