— A 2018-2020 Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition re-recall includes more than 108,000 vehicles that may experience seat belt pretensioner problems.
The seat belt pretensioners in the driver and/or front passenger seats may lock the seat belts where they can't extend or retract. However, the primary seat belt locking functions will continue to work.
Some of these vehicles were previously recalled in February 2024 but were repaired incorrectly and will need to have the new recall repairs performed.
According to Ford:
"Oxidation on top of the seat belt pretensioner squib pins where the bridge-wire is connected in the seat belt pretensioner squib causes a high resistance or open circuit (primary failure) that triggers a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and airbag light ON. If the welding between the squib pin and the bridge-wire degrades after extended corrosion, a pretensioner inadvertent deployment (secondary failure) may occur."
A driver should notice an illuminated warning light if the seat belt pretensioner problem occurs.
About 3,100 of the vehicles are recalled in Canada.
Lincoln and Ford seat belt pretensioner recall letters are expected to be mailed April 14, 2025. Dealers will inspect the seat belt retractor date codes and replace the seat belt retractors as necessary.
Expedition and Navigator owners may contact Ford at 866-436-7332. Ford's seat belt pretensioner recall number is 25S31.
