VW ID. Buzz Recall Issued Over Brake Warning Lights

Posted in Recalls

—  Volkswagen has recalled about 6,400 model year 2025 ID. Buzz electric minivans due to problems with the brake system warning lights on the instrument panel displays.

It seems the warning lights may show the incorrect symbols and colors, a violation of federal safety standards.

In case of a malfunction of the brake system, instead of the required red-colored BRAKE lettering, amber-colored lettering may appear.

VW says safety regulations require either the "common word 'BRAKE' or other prescribed, specific icons described in FMVSS 101 are shown in text form for brake system malfunctions."

A driver can allegedly be confused if the warning light doesn't meet regulations, or a VW driver may ignore the brake warning light.

About 700 of the ID. Buzz minivans are recalled in Canada.

VW ID. Buzz recall letters are expected to be mailed June 6, 2025, and dealerships will need to update the instrument panel software.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz owners with questions should call 800-893-5298 and refer to recall number 90A2.
