engine failure engine failure

This is the second major issue I have had with my Chevy Cruze in the past 3 months. It has 8500km (5300 miles) on it. I had to have a broken spark plug replaced just 3 months ago.

I am driving home after work on the highway when all of a sudden my RPMs sky rocket and I lose power. My AC shuts off and I can barely accelerate, but luckily the exit I needed to take was right away. While idling at a red light, my car is sputtering so badly that I am afraid it might die right there and then. I also notice a concerning amount of smoke coming from my hood.

I was able to put my car to the Chevy dealership where it leaked a huge puddle of oil onto the cement after only 5 minutes of sitting.

Turns out, one of the cylinders exploded and developed a huge hole which caused aIl of the oil to leak out. This explosion also shot metal shrapnel into the turbo injector, destroying that as well. I am extremely careful with my vehicles which is why this is so frustrating. Now I'm stuck waiting for my car to get fixed while all the parts are on back order.

I am so glad I only signed a 4 year lease with this car instead of buying it because I definitely got the lemon. When my term is up, I am chucking the keys right back at them.

Do not, I repeat, do not buy a Chevy Cruze! They are sh*t! I have a brand new Chevy Cruze 2018. I drove off the lot with only tenths of a mile on it and have owned it for 2 months. All of a sudden my car dies on me twice and I'm told there's some engine and piston issues, as if I understand what the hell pistons are!! Anyhow, totally stuck paying $420 a month, not including insurance for a car that is not only unreliable, but unsafe!!! Family vehicle, I think not. I mean unless you're idea of a family fun day is having you're car die twice while going town! I'm only thankful I wasn't driving down the highway because if it had happened then and my son got hurt, I would have been in some serious trouble for killing everyone that had a hand in selling me this brand new disaster!!!
